Nintendo 3DS Misty Pink Handheld Console – Prototype Display Model From 2011
Purchased this years ago on eBay. From my understanding it is a display model for retail stores back in 2011 when the 3DS first came out. The screens don’t have real LCDs behind them, it looks like just a film, and the battery compartment doesn’t have power pins, this further confirms it was a display unit from back in the day. It sounds like these were handed out to retail stores to simulate the look and feel of a 3DS device without risking a $250 console. It didn’t come with the back plate when I bought it, I’m not sure if the original retail models came with back plates or not.
